(Amman – July 11, 2019) – The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities are delighted to announce that the partnership with easyJet, one of the world’s leading low cost cariers, is already expanding its operations with the addition of 3 new routes to AqabaI from Venice, Geneva, and Milan as part of its Jordan Winter 2019 schedule. With a total of 5 routes connecting between 4 countries, the new routes are a part of the ever-growing partnership between Jordan and easyJet. HE Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Majd Shweikeh, elaborated: “Jordan has witnessed a tremendous positive shift in the tourism sector in 2018, and in 2019, the momentum is still as steadfast as it was last year. This expansion is the result of very hard work and we can see the results of our efforts with LCCs on the ground in every tourism attraction. We look forward to more success in the future with more routes and more tourism arrivals which will encourage more development and investment in this vital sector.”
Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, said: “We are very happy to see tangible results in Jordan from our partnership with easyJet. We see this expansion as an indicator of the type of success that the tourism sector is witnessing. We are more than doubling the number of routes this year operated by easyJet to Aqaba and we see this partnership expanding more and more in the years to come. We’re working closely with easyJet and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to make sure that Jordan is an accessible and affordable destination for every type of traveler.”
The new routes will operate with two weekly flights from Venice, Geneva and Milan to Aqaba during the winter season. EasyJet already operates winter seasonal flights to the Red Sea city of Aqaba from London and Berlin making the number of routes operated to Aqaba by easyJet a total of five.
